I have some very strong feelings about trail users vs. trail maintainers.  Though I do not have any exact figure, please allow me, very, very  few hikers give back to what they've so enjoyed via helping with trail maintenance.

I know this doesn't answer your question, and I know I'll be buried for this but, I don't think you will get many answers from this list due to their minimal involvement with trail maintenance.
