[pct-l] Marine Corp Birthday/ Veterans' Day

Your pride in your service to our country is truly justified. Thank you, so very much. It is espeically touching to me, today on Veterans' Day. My son just graduated on November 1 as an Army medic, and has just reported to his first duty station, assigned to the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum, upstate NY (our version of Siberia, no offense to our NY friends). He believes at present that he will be going to Afghanistan in January.

The sacrifice that you have made, and your family and loved ones who missed and worried about you, has never been more real and personal to me as it is now. My deepest thanks to all those men and women who have served in any branch. I know there are many among the ranks of hikers. We owe you a debt of gratitude we can never adequately repay.

L-Rod
