Tim,
 The Garmin maps are proprietary. I agree the quality issues aren't that 
good-- but I don't think they could do that much better with a screen as 
small as that. You can transfer waypoints into the Garmin pretty easily. The 
PCT CD roms have extractable waypoints which can be read into the Garmin 
using the USB/computer connection. But you're still stuck with the 'in 
house' maps.
