If you are starting in Yosemite, or north of Yosemite, why not get a permit
from Yosemite with a Whitney sticker, in addition to your PCT permit. That
late in the season you should be able to get a permit starting from the
valley or Tolumne Mdws fairly easily, considering that 40% of the permits
are reserved for walkups - up to one day ahead.
