[pct-l] Whitney Photos

Here are some photos of a recent trip up Whitney (alas, not by me):

The route up was from the Whitney Portal side, not the PCT, but shows what snow
conditions are like in the Sierras right now.

More info about Whitney and environs can be had from the Whitney Portal message
board (for which you have to register, but it's free and easy):

There are several detailed recent trip reports posted there. Summary:
switchbacks (on Whitney Portal side) snowed in but passable with crampons; some
opt to hike up the snow chute. People glissade down the snow chute on the return
leg. Summit appears to be snow-free.

Also on the subject of snow, I see that the Upper Tyndall snow sensor is now
registering sensible (but who knows if they're correct) numbers. As of today it
is saying 6.9" of water equivalent, so my guess is there's about 18-24" of snow.
At this rate it should read 0 in about a week.
