With all the focus on ultra-light techniques in the past several years,
I think the hiking community at large has kind of lost sight of the fact
that ultralight gear and techniques only work in mild conditions.  If
the conditions change, so must you!  It's entirely obvious when you read
it in an email, but it seems there are a lot of thru-hikers on the trail
this year who have forgotten, to their peril.
