[pct-l] Oxygen Use

Being weak and feeble, I plan on using a rechargeable O2 bottle on Mt.
Whitney this year. Of course, there is unfortunately no recharger unit at Trail
Crest, but I like the idea of being able to use it on other trips. I think the
bottle weighs around 3 pounds full. It has an adjustable regulator too. I got
mine at www.aeromedix.com. I figure my pack will still be well under 15
pounds for the trip. I use a Coghlan's adjustable water bottle holder for the O2
bottle. Works great.
It is probably a big joke using it, but hey it will be fun too. When you see
what people look like up at Trail Crest and on the spur trial over to the
summit, it doesn't look so funny then. This is going to be great with my solar
umbrella, white anti-radiation clothing, and now an O2 bottle. I will look
like I landed by mistake on Earth instead of Mars. Very cool. (Of course, I
know some of you think I am on this planet by mistake anyway.) :-)
Has anyone used an O2 bottle on a hike or mountaineering? What should I be
aware of and the tricks in using it?
By the way, if I run into you up the trail, each breath is $2.00 from my
bottle. And $1.00/minute to get under the solar umbrella.
