Dear Friends of the PCT:

This week, in partnership with Tejon Ranch, the Pacific Crest Trail
Association is embarking on a process designed to fulfill the original
vision for the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trial (PCT) and help meet our
mission of protecting, preserving and promoting the PCT.

The original and most desirable route of the 2650-mile PCT, as published in
the Federal Register, crossed the spectacular Tehachapi Mountains through
the Tejon Ranch. While never implemented, this original route was
consistent with the ultimate vision for a contiguous pedestrian and
equestrian trail that followed the crest of the great mountain ranges in
California, Oregon, and Washington from Mexico to Canada.

Below is a link to more information on the Tejon Ranch Preserve and the
Pacific Crest Trail:

The Pacific Crest Trail is an important part of the Tejon Ranch Preserve as
you will see from the materials. The materials contain a graphic of a trail
corridor but there is still a great deal of work to be done before a final
trail route is in place.

We are excited that the PCT will have a secure and permanent corridor as
part of the Tejon Ranch Preserve. This reroute of the PCT will allow public
access and a much improved user experience in this wonderful region of
California.
