[pct-l] PCT RECORD

David Horton's PCT schedule was worked out before we knew what the Sierra snow pack would be. Hopes of a fully supported trek through the Sierra in late June have become nearly impossible. We now plan to carry thru-hiking gear through the Sierra, resupplying every few days with the help of crew. This will definitely slow him down, but even if all he can manage is 25 miles per day in the high Sierra, he should still be able to break the current speed record of 83+ days set by Ray "Wall" Greenlaw in 2002.

Yes, the "we" stuff means I'm involved. I'll be guiding him through the southern Sierra. We expect much more snow than I experienced in May of 2001.
