[pct-l] Scott Williamson In Backpacker (May Issue)

I just finished reading "The Unbearable Lightness of
Being Scott Williamson" in the May issue of Backpacker.
It was a very unusual piece (in a good way) for Backpacker.

The editor writes:

This 5,120 mile 7-month odyssey is surely one of
the great hiking triumphs of our age, and yet the
particulars of Williamson's feat pale in comparison
to the heartache his handsome face conceals. As
Friedman discovered during his week with the 33-year
old Californian, there are firsts--and there are
transcendent human dramas disguised as firsts.

I had the good fortune of running into Scott at the
Laundromat in Cascade Locks on his way back south last
year as well as hiking with Patti (Silent Runner) for
an afternoon in the Lagunas. Patti hiked most of
the northbound leg of the PCT with Scott.

I'm sure every long-distance hiker knows how hard it
is to answer that often asked question, "Why?". To
learn a little bit about the answer for Scott, read
the article.
