You might want to try the South Shore Inn in South Lake Tahoe.  The owner is 
a great guy and may be willing to provide a shuttle for a fee, and maybe 
leave your car at his place.  South Shore Inn is listed in Yogis book and 
gives rides for hikers from Echo Lake to his Inn.
