[pct-l] Entrance into Canada

Good evening,

When I read the application space labeled, "Appearance", I assumed that it
was some kind of politically correct Canada-speak euphemism for "Race" so I
entered "White". I avoid trying to be cute with border-control people.
Besides, they have probably heard it all before.

I finished PCT-OR & WA on 10 Sep 02, and dutifully got my hiker's entry
permit vaccinated at Hope as instructed. The permit instructions also said
I should
surrender the vaccinated document upon leaving Canada. When I stopped at
the Canadian entry/exit control point at Blaine, I entered the office and
showed it to two officials, each of whom read it twice. They both said they
had never before seen such a document, but since it said they were to
collect it, they did. All of the Canadian " Federalies " .... the RCMP at
Hope, and the Customs people at Blaine .... were courteous and professional.
Maybe that was because after I spent two nights at the lodge at Manning, and
soaked several hours in the hot-tub in the little building out back, I was
somewhat less gross than most of the other hiker-trash.
