[pct-l] Shipping Denatured Alcohol questions

I mail denatured alcohol to myself on the trail all the
time. My safe storage technique is to store the alcohol in
recycled 16 oz water bottles, thread the cap tightly, turn
upside down to test for leaks. If no leaks, then roll
generously with newspaper, then place inside two gallon
ziplocs, and roll the all of it to eliminate excess air.
After double checking for leaks onto the newspaper, and the
outside ziploc for a secure seal, it's into the maildrop
with the fuel and down to the post office.

By law, all flammables must travel by slower, ground parcel,
meaning no priority mail. At last check, one also needed to
label the box to the effect that it contains alcohol, and
the amount. 16 fluid ounces or less may travel in a plastic
container within your parcel. Over 16 ounces requires an
approved metal container, presumably such as the type in
which denatured alcohol is sold.

The above are, or were, USPS regulations. The policies of
UPS and FedEx, etc. may vary. And I'll bet they do!
