28G Spitler Peak
Location: Riverside County, California
Named for a squatter named Spitler who lived on the Fobes Ranch near
this peak (ca.1890). Hemet historian Clarence Swift, remembers that
"Spider didn't get along with the owners of the adjacent Thomas Ranch
and was driven off by their boys, but he left his name behind." 
Name first appears on USFS Cleveland National Forest map (1944). 
Peak was added to the HPS Peak List in 1958.
