[pct-l] Airport ID

The US House of Representatives has recently passed legislation directing
the Traffic Safety Administration (TSA) NOT to accept as identification for
boarding purposes driver's licenses issued by states that do not require
proof of legal resident status to obtain a driver's license. The vote on
this bill was not at all close and the bill is expected to pass the Senate
and, if it is passed, President Bush has promised to sign it. When this
legislation takes effect my Oregon driver's license won't get me on a plane
at the Portland Airport. I assume TSA will come up with some regulations
regarding what is acceptable and I would guess its will be something like a
photo drivers license and a birth certificate (assuming your birth
certificate certifiies that someone with the same name, race, gender and age
reflected on the drivers license was born somewhere in the US of A).
Personally, I already have a passport and plan to carry it whenever there is
the remote possibility I'll wind up negotiating TSA security. For good
measure, I also have my official Clackamas County Deputy District Attorney
photo identification and Official Shiny Badge which I also refer to as my
First Hostage Executed Pass.
