Today cramponed and snowshoed up to the PCT on the Acorn Trail from Wrightwood. Then continued from the PCT up Pine Mt towards Baldy. Looks like there is tremendous amounts of snow compared to last year. Last year we hiked this section in February and there only was hard, patchy but dangerous ice. Presently there is between 4-6 ft on the PCT and more where there are drifts. Looks like a great year for SCAL aquifers but perhaps more of an adventure for thruers with ice and snow. Hoping for more and later snow --- we need it and I love winter!
