A fire permit is required for any flame (campfire, bbq, or stove) on public
land in Southern California. They are available from USFS, California
Division of Forestry, and BLM offices in Southern Cal, and must be obtained
in person. 

It would be nice if the PCTA could get permission to include these in the
thruhiker permit.

Hey does anyone know if the Forest Service is requiring fire permits this
year like they did last year.  I would hope not due to all the rain but you
never know.  They required them in addition to the thru-hiking permit from
the PCTA.  Eric Yakel
