Your reminder to ask about water near the Middletons in San Gorgonio Pass
has paid off.    Another contact with the Middletons (found that number)
produced the assurance from Don Middleton that he intends to continue to
supply water for PCT hikers somewhere "right along the trail in the same
vicinity but not where it was before" at the (former) Pink Motel.  The new
owner will be living on the premises and did not want the responsibility of
providing for the hikers.  Mr. Middleton said that the exact spot of the
future water cache has not been determined but "that it will be obvious to
the hikers."

Good news, indeed.
