How true.  At 9:30 in the morning there were a dozen "characters"  hanging 
around on the corner unashamedly drinking from paper bag covered  bottles.  
However, I went over to talk to them and found them friendly and  curious, just as 
are all when confronted with people obviously more insane than  
themselves....namely, thruhikers.
 
Sadly Don's Pub burned down a couple of years ago, so the post office and  
minimart are all that are left.  But don't forget Dinosaur Central....  great 
breakfasts.
