[pct-l] PCT Hikers per Capita

That's true Eric. Three of us in Warner Springs plus Charlie and Janie
(who customized my breeze pack for last year's hike) If we're talking per
capita, I guess that depends on the size of the town. Those who have
thru-hiked the PCT know Warner Springs as mile marker 110. They have seen
the entire downtown area. The small gas station, a Post Office in a
trailer, and the Resort. So far there has been no talk of putting up a
stop sign downtown like they now have in Santa Ysabel fifteen miles south.

Judson's right. Per Capita Ashland is a very good candidate, minus me as
of '85. 40 miles this side of finishing California I ran into four hikers
from Ashland. Judson, you may know Larry and Lisa and their daughters who
started the Ashland Bakery and Cafe along with Steve Sacks(tennis club
owner) in '82. Also there's a Christian Extension College up four miles
past the Greensprings Summit (PCT and Highway 66 intersection) where it's
required as part of the cirriculum to to hike. Theres 40 or more students
plus staff and families there alone. I know a few of them have hiked at
least California on the PCT. Ashland is not a very big town.

thru-hikers that I know of, or have met. Three of us are regular
contributers to this list. I'm wondering what town has the highest rate of
PCT thru-hikers per capita! Anyone? Surely there must be a small town
somewhere with a couple living in it who've hiked the trail.
