[pct-l] hammock?

I have tried sleeping in a Hennesey hammock, thinking that this would solve both weight and sleeping problems. I found out after almost a year that I was trying to put a square peg in a round hole. One night North of Walker Pass when I just could not get to sleep I decided to lay out on the ground and was out like a light. Since then my hammock is used only on selective lazy day hikes. Hammocks are not for everybody - try them out before you rely solely on them.

I'm betting you could. You'll probably limit yourself a little by
having to stop a little sooner or keep hiking a little longer than you
might want in a few spots. I did see one person in his hammock about a
mile below Marie lake las summer. To do it again I'd consider a hammock
if my wife wasn't with me.

:Question for those of you that have done the JMT. Is it
:possible to use a hammock on the JMT? I have been looking at
:various photos hikers have posted, and it looks like many
:areas are treeless. Should I just take my old tent? Has
:anyone used a hammock on the JMT?
