Just to reiterate, do not get to Red's to early.  When my wife and I hiked the PCT we skipped VVR and ran out of food as we can into Reds Meadow.  That was on June 17th.  We were counting on restocking at the store.  The only problem was that the store had not opened yet and there was no shuttle service to Mammoth.  Luckily there was a few store employees doing inventory and they let us buy what ever we could find.  Mind you the only goods in the place had been sitting there all winter, therefore we got caned chili, tamales, peaches, pears, and pineapples; also some M&M and crackers.  And let me tell you, those mini marshmallows were rock hard, but we ate them anyways.

One last comment, just remember that the longer it takes for the snow to melt, the later the store will open.
