[pct-l] adapting to heat
the one thought that I need to take with me, is to hike within my own
limits, to walk at a speed just below the high sweat level. Walking
with a healthy "glow" is ok, "pespiration" is okay, but a
full-tilt-heavyweight-ninth-round-boxer sweat, hour after hour, will end
a hike pretty darn quick.
The biggest impediment to this advice is the minor herd mentality that
occurs on the trail, that low-key fear that one will be left behind.
This nagging thought can drive an individual to walk faster than their
personal comfort level, just to keep up with the pack.
