Wet or dry, 60 pounds or 15, I think the key bit of advice in the first
message was: unfasten/loosen your harness when fording water.
Seems like good advice to me.

Was the woman's pack 60 pounds wet, or had the contents inside of it
by the time the pack was weighed? If the pack was submerged in water
that's my understanding from what I've read on the list), isn't it
that everything was very wet, causing the pack to weigh more than it did
when the hiker originally packed it?
