Great idea. Why didn't I hear of this before?

Actually Into the Wind's kite tyvek was listed at @.50 per yard and it about
half the weight. Of course it will not last as long as the construction
Tyvek. We have learned all this from experience. The kite tyvek lasted about
half the CDT where the construction Tyvek lasts a whole thruhike for us.

If all else fails, you can order a piece of Tyvek, cut to your
specifications, on ebay for $2.70 per yard. Search on "tyvek ground cloth"
or item no. 5111372853.  A more general search might reveal other vendors
and maybe a cheaper price.
