[pct-l] starting place

Personally, I would start at Campo and head north. Last year, I started
on May 9 and had no water problems. I started catching the back of the
main pack around Big Bear about 11 days later. By Agua Dulce, three weeks
in, I was nearing the center. By the time I reached Kennedy Meadows, I
was near the front.

Starting at Campo on May 17, you could reach Kennedy Meadows by June 20
and head into the Sierra with pretty good snow conditions (although it
might get buggy lower down). If you start at Big Bear on May 17, you
might reach Kennedy Meadows in very early June and have some snow issues
to deal with. It all depends on your pacing, but I don't think you have
to worry too much about water issues with a May 17 start.
