[pct-l] Need advice on section hiking/first time/kids too

I'm thinking it is too early to hike the PCT in most places except in the
Southern California (where you are). You might do better to go up the coast
and find some hikes there - or in the coastal range. Along the Oregon coast,
it is whale watching time. Up here in Portland, today was close to 70,
sunny, and beautiful. But, there is still now up higher in the Gorge. You
could hike low (2500 ft and less) almost anywhere. One PCT possibility I
can think of might be at Castle Craig, just south of Dunsmuir. But, others
will need to verify that it isn't full of snow.
