Hiking on the PCT/JMT by Sandy Meadow (just north of Crabtree
Meadows/Whitney) in 1997, we heard several chain saws roaring away across
the meadow. At the Crabtree Ranger Station I asked about it and was told
they were working on the trail. I said that the trail didn't go near where
they were working and was told it was "a different trail." There is no other
trail in that area.
