In May (!) in 1977 the temperature near Tyndall Creek, south of Forester
Pass, when I woke up in the morning was 4 degrees!

On August 3, 1996 when I did the JMT (N-to-S), we camped near Diamond Mesa,
just south of Forester Pass. We had no thermometer, but woke up to ice on the
lake.
