Hi
About a week ago I posted about five Ridgebacks that were bitten by a nest of
rattlesnakes Here is an up date. All dogs are expected to survive but a
terrible price to pay
Check this web site on what a can happen to a dog from a snake bit,
http://groups.msn.com/Snakebitephotos/shoebox.msnw.
It's a chance one takes when you take your dogs out on the trail. They do
have dog trainers who supposedly can teach your dog to stay away from
rattlesnakes. I have yet to see one for Copper Heads.
I belong to a K 9 hiking club in S. CA. and try to go on dog hikes every week
end.
We have been fortunate not having a dog problems but lost eight people in the
mountains this winter. Something to think about. My dog has never asked me if
I wanted to go. He just takes me with the assistance of my wife who is glad
to get rid of both of us for a day. I had my wife read this and she stands
corrected. She said she love her dog but said don't let the door hit me in the
rump on the way out to hike.
We had a wonderful dog hike yesterday in two feet of snow by Little Jimmy
Campground. Mt Islip had I guest three feet but decide not to go all the way up.
We had ten dogs and seven people.
