[pct-l] email worm

It's worse than that. If you are going to be
irresponsible enough to connect a Windows PC to
a public network, you must be responsible enough
to install all the critical updates from
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
(only the critical, not necessarily the others)
and install antivirus software of which Norton
and McAfee are the best known, and update it
at least weekly (daily is better right now)
and run a full
system scan of all your hard drive partitions at
least weekly.

I have to change my public pct-l address frequently
because it gets reported to spammers by worms
that get onto unprotected computers owned by
irresponsible pct-l members. And so will yours,
so I recommend using a throwaway address for
public email lists and websites and keeping your
real address private.
