I used an iriver 512mb mp3 player last summer. 1 1/2 oz w/battery.  It 
doesn't have cards or discs so what you download prior to your trip is what 
your going to listen to till ya get to a ridgetop where with one touch 
recording function you can record from the airwaves. Also it's a voice 
recorder. It takes 1 AA which lasts approx. 20 hrs or 50 mi.
