[pct-l] PCT with a dog?

This subject has been covered before. Try the archives.

Sorry, I'm going to be down on the "take the dog" unless you do it for only
a week and not in the desert.

People have taken their dogs, but I would advise against it. This is your
hike, not theirs. You will probably need to hike at night because of the
heat. You will need to carry lots of water.

The desert is not a place for a dog. Several people have tried in the South
and needed to get off the trail because the dogs can't handle the heat. You
would be better off taking your dog in Oregon or from Echo Lake North for a
while, although you would need to slow down because the dog won't be in the
shape you are.

The National Parks (read High Sierras) don't allow dogs nor does Castle
Craig State Park.

If you take your dog, I wish it the best of luck.
