[pct-l] Wildfires

Wild fires used to burn tens of millions acres yearly in the West before its
settlement. Now, one million is considered a big deal. Anyone want to bet that
each and every wildfire will now be touted as a great reason to "thin" out
all them forests that are supposed to burn at regular intervals, but "can't" now
because of all the houses in the way? Another great plan: thinning creates
lots of jobs and allows development (more jobs and more local tax dollars) in
forest lands to continue unabated, and comes with a net income for the Federal
Government. Just change the local zoning laws to require fire buffer zones and
voila! Even more jobs and more impact fees. Wonder if anyone out there is pro
fire? Was last year
Maybe they should start putting giant bolts on the San Andreas Fault while
they are into stopping natural "disasters." Could save a lot of real estate,
and employ LOTS of engineers. Pay for it with a local levy
