REPORT FROM MT. RAINIER:
Muir Hut, a historic structure located near 10,000 feet in elevation on the
flank of this awesome volcano and situated in order to help climbers reach the
summit by providing strategic shelter, burned and sustained considerable
structural damage today as a climber attempting to melt snow used an unknown
chemical to "up" the fuel heat of his home-made stove. No injuries were reported,
however, the perpetrator is missing after several angry climbers (who lost all
of their camping gear in the blaze) were last seen chasing him across the
Ingram Glacier, ice axes in hand.
