[pct-l] BEAR CANNISTERS

Transit from Bakersfield to KM: Check out
http://www.co.kern.ca.us/roads/kernregionaltransit.asp for transit routes
from Bakersfield to Mojave, then Mojave to Ridgecrest (in Kern County east
of KM, near Inyokern where I understand the KM manager resupplies & mails
packages). The Kern Co transit site refers to the Inyo-Mono Transit
Service - see the C.R.E.S.T. page at
http://www.countyofinyo.org/transit/CRESTpage.htm for transit from
Ridgecrest north. Seems to me that if you call the dispatcher listed on the
CREST page you might get some info as to whether the bus driver can stop on
the highway at the KM road; you'd have to hitch from there, I think.

there
enough camp sites with bear boxes to get around having to carry a bear
cannister? also what is the best way to get to kennedy meadows? i can get to
bakersfield easy enough, but what is my best bet after that...?...thanks
