Recently, Stefan Lofgren, posted some info and a site for his 83 day hike of
the PCT.  On his site, he talked about changing socks every 5-7 miles.  He
indicated that he carries 4 pair of socks and changes them in line with his
suggestions.  This means every hour and a half or two.  What have been the
sock-like experiences of others?  Does anyone else feel this is a good
practice or an excessive practice?  I carry two pairs of socks... one to wear
and one to sleep in.  When I get to a place where I can wash a pair and  it
will dry out by the night, I change.
