I've hiked the southern section of the JMT twice; 1971 and 1994. Because
the trips were so far apart in time, it was a new experience the second
time. I had no tactile or visual memory, and felt like I did when walked up
to the lip of the Grand Canyon blindfolded, my hand put on the rail, and
then my friend removing my blindfold. The difference is that the experience
lasted two weeks rather than an hour.
