Don't throw away your DEET and netting just because you get to Tahoe.
If you're
easily bugged, you may find the gnats around the Feather and Yuba river
crossings (e.g. Belden) and the late flies in the PNW, such as those around
Glacier Peak, very annoying as well.    They don't bite, but they take a lot
of joy out of life; one longs for a cold windy exposed ridge.
