[pct-l] Alcohol Stoves

>>Did you mail it to yourself?? how often did you
>>refuel??

A 20 oz soda bottle would hold enough fuel for 20
meals. I used a film canister to measure the fuel. One
film canister of fuel did the trick for measuring. I
did not always carry a soda's bottle worth of fuel.
Usually it was half full.

No need to mail it. Can pick up fuel at just about any
gas station under the name gas line anti-freeze (Heet
is a popular brand name) The place where it would
have been hardest to get fuel (VVR, in the middle of
an isolated stetch of the PCT) now has Denatured
Alcohol for sale.

As for why I use an alchie stove it is because I am a
fan of the KISS principle. Any stove that has a repair
kit available for it is a bad sign from my point of
view. The alchie stove? Pour in one oz. fuel, light.
Boil water. Cook meal. Eat.

No o-rings to rot. No gas to pressurize. No roaring
jet-like sound. I like it! I do use my whisperlite
for winter hiking now, but that is about it.
