I used regular hiking boots in the Sierras and trail shoes for the rest of
the trail. Now I just wear trail shoes for all conditions, except for maybe
the dead of winter.

I think I averaged about 80 miles or so although some of them weren't all
that long.. I don't believe in carrying lots of food, unless I absolutely
have to. I broke up the three long sections with drops in Onyx (Mojave to
Kennedy Meadows), Independence (Kennedy Meadows to VVR) and would have
resupplied in Trout Lake (Cascade Locks to White Pass), if I didn't have
someone meeting me.

Trout Lake is a compact, little town with a store, motel, PO, restaurant and
hardware, among others. There's a fair amount of traffic on the road, and I
think your chances of getting a ride are good as it's an access to Mount
Adams. Iowever, I don't think too many take advantage.

I pretty much resupplied along the way and mailed, from the trail, to the
smaller towns and resorts, such as Warner Springs and most all of OR and WA,
from Ashland and Cascade Locks respectively.

Not really, I relied on the data book "water alerts"and carried enough water
for those long sections, and didn't depend on water stashes. One or two
liter plastic Coke or Pepsi make great temporary containers. Foldable
Platypus' are also nice and light.

Any other questions, feel free to ask!
