[pct-l] information request



The California section of the Guide Book is quite good and will give you
what you need. However, every year is different and the time of year one
hikes makes a big difference. You didn't indicate how far north you were
planning on going. The Kick-off at Lake Morena is  great place to start
(last week-end of April). Lots of rides. And many trail angels to help. We
slack-packed the first two days - from the border to Lake Morena and then
from Mt. Laguna back to Lake Morena.  Two long days, but just fine without
full packs. Water was not a problem in early season. Check out the PCTA at
