I already gave some feedback.

You need a TEAM of moderators. I would be willing to be part of the team, 
but I don't want to do it alone.

You need to decide if the list should be a "broadcast" list, where the 
moderators cull and edit posts then post a "newsletter" of pertinent 
information...... or should thru-hikers be able to post directly, sort of a 
global trail register?

The list should NOT be on one of the big web based services like 
http://groups.yahoo.com because the signal to noise ratio will be crummy 
with all the HTML posts (can pocketmail even deal with HTML?) and ads. We 
can probably get Ryan to setup a new list for this. Maybe "Thruhiker-L"

The list should have a charter of sorts, so all the moderators sing from 
the same hymn book.

Also, I notice that the PCTA is being CCed on this. Does anyone know if 
they are interested? John, is there are reason you CCed them? Historically, 
the office staff has not had much interest in this list....but they do have 
a new Exec Dir, so maybe things are changing.
