[pct-l] Cabazon south and border North info!

If you hike South out of Cabazon, load up with water at the water pipe by
the big rock just before you start up fuller ridge. ( I would take 8 liters
and no less than 6 liters) You will have a good 16 miles of almost too easy
switchbacks that make wheelchair ramps look steep! Good camp spot as soon as
you go thru a wide crack between 2 big rock formations. ( Nice sandy spot,
can't miss it) For Ed camping North of border after a late start, try the top
of the ridge JUST before you start down toward Hauser creek. There is a small
trail the leading to a few private " Out of sight campsites" at the top of
the ridge ( You will make a left turn off the trail in a small draw . Hobbit
showed Amigo and myself this place in 2000 and it is great. ( About 11 miles
from border) Start at border with only a liter as there is good water in
creek about 4 miles up the trail on PCT from border. Then take 5 or 6 liter
from there as Hauser may not have water at this years kick-off time. You may
need to carry water all the way to the Lake which is about 16 miles. Good
Luck., Monte
