[pct-l] Idyllwild a wise choice??

How do you figure?? Thru-hikers go to great lengths to save weight with
their gear selection. Seldom does a hiker pack 8 liters of water when the
next water is a mere 10 miles down trail. Why would a hiker go downhill and
back up with 20lbs. of food and fuel when you can resupply less than 2 days
away and save themselves a 2,500ft. climb with this extra food and add 20
lbs. of pounding down 8,000ft? Idllwild may be a hiker friendly place , but
far from the WISEST choice. Cabazon is the wisest resupply choice. Rides
have never been a problem for me. If you are stuck under a hot bridge and
can't get a ride, maybe you need to start hiking with a blond of the fairer
sex and hedge your bet!!! PS , If you want to see Idllwild , take the
sidetrip, but just carry what you need to go to Cabazon. ( Otherwise you run
the risk of being of being a " Ryback'er" , who only used 5 food drops for
the whole trip!!! **** And how wise is that!! This town being used as a
resupply stop rates only slightly higher than packing a 20 lb. rock in your
pack for 25 miles for no reason!!! Hike your own hike, but hold the rocks!!!!
