[pct-l] altimeters and topo software

Hi,
My partner is a certified gearhead who just bought the Suunto
Observer. His words:
- The observer is not THAT big
- It has lots of nice abilities: it measures height up to 3ft exact
- It can be in altitude or barometer mode
- It has a compass and a thermometer
- It has either a plastic casing and strap, a steel casing and partly
steel partly plastic strap, or titanium casing with partly plastic
partly titanium strap: all of which are easily adjustable for thinner
wrists.
The only drawback, according to him is that you would have to
convince your significant other that this is really worth the money
(it costs way too much... the steel version costs almost 400 USD).
