[pct-l] Shoes

 Is shoeing horses a commercial
> ploy like the water filter?

I rode with a woman that does not get her horses shod. She lasted 2 hours
on the first day before she put easy boots on (they are like rubber
galloshes, but a real pain to get on and off). Wild horses are out there
getting their feet toughened up since birth, they do not necessarily do 20
mile days of rocky trail, and they are not carrying a saddle, person, or
packs.

You might ask if somebody has done the trail barefoot. All the same things
apply, Are shoes necessary to thruhike?
