[pct-l] Hiking Buddy for PCT

Hi, I'd go with you on a 5 to 7 day hike, but I don't think you or your =
adventure racing buddies could keep up the pace. Just kidding around; I =
have a hike planned for the Steve Roper's High Route which parralells =
the JMT portion of the PCT in Southern California. I head out on the =
"trail" starting July 31'st. Should get finished the first half of the =
High Route and get off around the 13th of August as I fly home to =
Ontario Canada from Reno NV on the 14th. This is a different kind of =
hiking though, as I am off trail at timberline, above treeline for about =
75 % of the route.
If I were you, living in Southern California, I would consider doing the =
John Muir Trail, which is a part of the PCT. I completed this JMT over =
the last two years during 3 weeks of hiking total. Being in superb =
shape, I do not think you will ever do 20 mile days on teh JMT, and this =
will be a challenge to you. Most PCT thru-hikers do 18 mile days the =
most when they get to the JMT and the Sierras as they are doing 1 to 2 =
mountain passes a day. For some photos of my tour of the JMT go to my =
hiking site: http://members.home.net/hikepath/ and work yor way to the =
JMT section.
This summer will be my third season exploring the Sierra Nevada's and =
I'm as hooked and biased as any addict could be. I've done the Goat =
Rocks in Washington and there's nothing that compares to the views you =
get from the 12,500 foot passes of the Sierras - however, if it's an =
exciting challenge you want, take a look at the West Coast Trail on =
Vancouver Island, Canada. You might be able to handle the several cable =
cars and the 300 foot series of ladders.
