[pct-l] Self Resupply

I wasn't paying much mind to this thread because I only do a one month trip each
year, with one resupply, and I hike with llamas so food and stove weight aren't
huge issues. But you, Mountain Dave reminded me of our first long term backpack
trip, 35 days, two resupplies. In order to cut down weight we didn't take a
stove, pots or fuel, and didn't cook our meals at all. We ate dried fruit for
breakfast, munched on nuts and chocolate and fish jerky all day, and had cold bean
soup (rehydrated in plastic jars) and granola with soy milk for dinner. We ate
the same thing every day for the whole trip, and survived. But only just. That
culinary experience was part of the reason we had llamas by the next year so we
could have a stove, pots, fuel, cooked food, and comfortable beds. Now I spend
the month prior to our trip preparing a different dinner for every night and
drying my own of nearly everything else. Trip food is a major pleasure now.
