[pct-l] Biggest resupply surprise???

Citrus- Here's a couple of "alternative" resupply ideas for California
you might consider:

In the desert, mail a box to the Country Store near Jack Fair's house, a
couple of days north of Agua Dulce, then skip Mojave/Tehachapi. The store
itself has a very limited selection, but they are happy to handle resupply
boxes, and are located just one mile off the trail. Call first to make sure
they are still in business!

For the Sierra, consider going straight thru from Kennedy Meadows to Reds
Meadows, then buying just enough chips and ice cream (grin) to get you up
to Tuolumne. You need to be a strong hiker to do this, of course, but those
10 to 12 days spent in the mountains without coming out will be the
highlight of your trip, guaranteed! I've traveled that stretch 3 times, and
have never gone out to Lone Pine, Independance, etc.

So many of your resupply decisions depend on how many miles you plan to
hike each day, and how much time you want to spend in town vs. on the
trail. Consider resupplying as often as possible early on, while you are
"getting in shape", then spreading the stops out more later in the trip.
